Ruby Dalip Matthews, 75, of Cedar Rapids, died May 15, 2015, at Living Center East. She was cremated and a memorial service will be at 5:30 p.m. July 14 at Unity Center in Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Brenda Ehret.
Ruby was born Oct. 9, 1939, in Trinidad, to Eileen and Sydney Dalip. In 1962, Ruby married Robert Burns. They had three sons. Later they divorced and Ruby then married Gary Matthews.
Ruby is survived by her husband, Gary; sons, Robert (Dianne) Burns, Robin Burns and Ryan Burns; five grandchildren; sisters, Rosella (Mark) Austad and Christabella (Steve) Mahabir; brother, Rawlinson (Janet) Dalip; as well as her aunt, Pearly Gajsdhar; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ruby worked at Pizza Hut before working at Rockwell Collins until she retired. She was very talented and loved to do crafts and work in her garden.
She had a very happy personality and loved everyone she met.
Family and friends will miss her dearly.
Ruby was preceded in death by her mother; father; brother, Winston; and sisters, Sita Dalip and Annabella Wilmot.
