Roy William Heising, Roy William Heising
Roy William Heising, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died at home, Monday, Aug. 31, 2009. Graveside Services: 1 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery by the Rev. Kent Landhuis. Arrangements are entrusted to Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel.
Roy is survived by three sons, James (Beth) Heising of Waukesha, Wis, William Heising of Colorado Springs, Colo, and Jeffery (Robin) Heising of Cedar Rapids; daughters, Kathryn Martinez of Cedar Rapids, and Anne (Ed) Waltz of Delafield, Wis; stepson, James (Diane) Burnside of Cedar Rapids; brother, Donald (Mary Ellen) Heising of Cali.; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents; a son, Stephen; a daughter, Sarah; and sister, Dorothy Hazelett.
Roy was born on August 28, 1924 in Fort Madison to William and Leila Heising. He obtained a BS degree in chemical engineering from Iowa State. Roy married Pauline “Polly” Burnside in Cedar Rapids on September 19, 1981. He was a member of the Elks Club and the Kappa Sigma fraternity.Roy was an avid golfer, bowler, and pool player.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy in lieu of flowers.
