Routson, Donald E. (Brague)
Donald E. (Brague) Routson, 77, of Marion, died Sunday, June 5, 2011, from complications of diabetes. Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Mike Morgan. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Patricia; nephews, Bud and Sandy Norris of Mauldin, S.C., Mick and Gina Norris of Greenville, S.C., Roxan Norris of Greenville S.C., Tim and Patty Seltrecht of Cedar Rapids, Tammy Seltrecht of Alburnett, Traci and Jason Fine of Cedar Rapids; and other nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Brague; his mother and stepfather, Donald and Lea Routson; and a sister, Evelyn Norris.
Donald was born July 24, 1933, in Cedar Rapids. He served in the Navy from 1951 until 1954 and served aboard the destroyer USS Waller DDE 466. He married Patricia Ann Henry on Sept. 10, 1995. He worked at Cherry Burrell for over 40 years, before retiring in 1995. He was very active in the Cherry Burrell & Evergreen Retirees monthly luncheon. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Benton City 81 in Shellsburg for 40 plus years. He also belonged to the Marion American Legion Post 298. Don and Pat spent the next 11 years wintering in their Florida home Ocklawaha, Fla. Donald loved to play golf and go fishing.
