Roush, Pauline Hanshaw
Pauline Hanshaw Roush, 94, of Keystone Cedars in Cedar Rapids, died June 9, 2011. Services will be at Crist Mortuary, Boulder, Colo., with burial next to her husband at Mountain View Cemetery in Boulder.
Pauline was born Sept. 19, 1916, in Selma, Iowa, the oldest of four daughters of the late Wilbur and Loie (Webster) Hanshaw. She married Hubert Roush on June 30, 1946, in Keosauqua. She was valedictorian of the 1935 graduating class of Douds Leando High School and attended Parsons College in Fairfield.
Pauline was an independent woman and traveled to Hanford, Wash., to work during World War II. She was also a rural school teacher and then assistant county superintendent. Pauline and her husband owned the Gamble Store in Burlington for a number of years and she worked at Younkers Department Store, retiring after 15 years.
Pauline was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, and she will be greatly missed by all. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Roush Neill of Broomfield, Colo.; her son, Wayne (Nancy) Roush of Hiawatha; her grandson, Travis (Elizabeth) Neill of Golden, Colo.; her granddaughter, Christina (Jeremy) Bienemann of Westminster, Colo.; her great-granddaughter, Michelle Bienemann of Westminster, Colo.; and her two sisters, Marjorie Downey of Silver Springs, Md., and Madelyn Wilson of Maumelle, Ark.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert; her parents; and her sister, Ruth Kerr.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Keystone Cedars and Iowa Hospice.
