Rosemary Theobald Hanson, 76, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021, at her residence after failing in health since December. Celebration of life services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, at the United Methodist Church with Pastor Kwang Song officiating. Calling hours will begin at noon Tuesday, April 27, at Jones & Eden Funeral Home. where the family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the Washington County Hospital Foundation, Hospice of Washington County and Chapter D.L. of T.T.T. Rosemary was born March 25, 1945, in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of Peter and Dayl (Huston) Theobald. She graduated from University Lake School in Hartland, Wis., and from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Rosemary was united in marriage to Kenneth “Ken” Hanson on Sept. 24, 1966, in Oconomowoc, Wis.
Rosemary had resided in Washington since 1967. She was a member of the Eastern Star, T.T.T. and past president of Community Chest. She was active in the Washington Music and Athletic Boosters and was on the Steering Committee for the Washington Performing Arts Center. Rosemary enjoyed golfing, bowling, watching the Green Bay Packers and wintering in Sanibel Island, Fla.
She is survived by her husband, Ken Hanson of Washington, Iowa; son, Eric Hanson and wife Shannon of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; son, Greg Hanson and wife Maria of North Liberty, Iowa; son, Nicholas Hanson and wife Genevieve of Falls Church, Va.; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Rose, Peter, Julian and Kirin Hanson; and one sister, Ann Mawer of Venice, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Plymesser and Catherine Dayl Theobald.
