ROSEMARY "ROSEY" SPECHT
Maquoketa
Rosemary "Rosey" Specht, 87, of Maquoketa, passed away Tuesday evening, Oct. 6, 2015, at Wheatland Manor in Wheatland. A gathering of family and friends will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Private family graveside services and burial will be Saturday, Oct. 10, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa.
Rosemary Kleineck was born Aug. 18, 1928, in Baldwin, Iowa, to Roy J. and Bernice (Stingley) Kleineck. She grew up in Onslow and was an Onslow High School graduate. She then attended Shimer College in Chicago. Before finishing college, she met her future husband, Lester Henry Specht. They were married Feb. 18, 1948, in Cedar Rapids and to this union four children were born: James, Thomas, Richard and Jodi.
"Rosey" was a homemaker and had farmed with her husband in the Grand Mound area from 1948 to 1974, retiring and moving to Maquoketa.
"Rosey" enjoyed playing cards, reading, bowling, golfing and crossword puzzles.
Those left to honor Rosemary's memory include her children, James "Jim" Specht of Maquoketa, Richard "Dick" Specht of Epworth and Jodi Specht of Clinton; and two sisters-in-law, Ruth Denger of Maquoketa and Beulah Clark of Waterloo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester, on Sept. 23, 1994; and a son, Thomas, on Feb. 28, 1997.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Rosemary "Rosey" Specht Memorial Fund has been established.
