ROSEMARY MARIE "ROSIE" COBLENTZ

Rosemary Marie "Rosie" Coblentz, 93, a longtime resident of Oxford, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2020, at Lantern Park Specialty Care Center in Coralville.
Rosemary Marie Stratton was born Oct. 6, 1927, in rural Johnson County, Iowa,
the daughter of Milo and Mary (Yenter) Stratton. She graduated from Cosgrove
High School in 1947 and attended Iowa
State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. On Feb. 5, 1950. she was united in marriage to David Coblentz in Iowa City. The couple resided in Oxford, where they raised their family. In addition to caring for her family, she worked at area restaurants including the Lark Supper Club and Sleepy Hollow before starting work at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in the central sterilizing department, retiring in 1989 after 15 years of service.
Rosie enjoyed the simple things in her life, the love of her family, quilting, reading, playing cards, watching TV, going to the casino, supporting the Chicago Cubs and supporting the Oxford American Legion Auxiliary.
Her family includes her children, Patsy Johnson, Sandra Cox (Jerry), Debra Harland (Tim), James Coblentz (Marisa), Duane Coblentz (Jodie) and Joyce Disterhoft (Bryan); 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Betty Stratton; cousin, Margaret Probasco; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; grandson, Tony Coblentz; and three brothers, Russell, Jack and Ray Stratton.
No public services are planned at this time. Burial will be at Oxford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her memory to the Oxford First Responders or the Oxford American Legion Auxillary.
