Rosella C. Heims White, 91, formerly of Worthington, passed away peacefully at 2:40 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade.
Friends and relatives may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 12, at Reiff Funeral Home in Dyersville, where the Farley American Legion will meet in a body at 4:30 p.m., and a wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Friends also may call after 9 a.m. Monday, March 13, at the funeral home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Basilica of St. Francis Xavier in Dyersville, with the Rev. Dennis Quint officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Worthington.
She was born July 30, 1925, in Luxemburg, Iowa, daughter of Frank and Mary Langel. She received her education at Holy Trinity School in Luxemburg. On Sept. 23, 1947, she was united in marriage to Edmund Heims. He preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 1968. She later married Gerald White on Feb. 9, 1973, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Worthington. He preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1993. They retired from farming and moved to Dyersville in August 1987. They traveled extensively in the U.S. until Gerry's death.
She was a member of the Resurrection Choir and Order of Martha for many years and helped keep the House of God clean at the Basilica. She also enjoyed bowling for many years, genealogy, playing cards, dominos, crocheting and spending time with family.
She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish, Dyersville.
She is survived by her four sons, Ronald (Connie), Alan (Debra) and Leonard (Joyce), all of Dyersville, and Dennis (Jane) of Worthington; a daughter, Edna McLaughlin of Rockford, Ill.; a sister, Barbara Frazen of California; three sisters-in-law, Alice Langel of Dyersville, Germaine Langel of Guttenberg and Ruth Welch of Nevada; 17 grandchildren; 33 great- grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Colleen (Terry) Boffeli of Farley and Geri (Bill) Wagner of Dyersville; six stepsons, Bob (Nancy) and Randy (Shirley) of Dyersville, Don (Melanie) of Sherrill, Dennis I (Debbie) of Browntown, Minn., and Phil (Delia) of Waverly, Ill.; 24 stepgrandchildren; and 36 stepgreat-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph (Marilyn), John and Francis; two sisters, Marie (Pete) Berns and Agnes (Lawrence) Heims; stepson, Ronnie N. White; and stepgrandson, Jason White.
