ROSE MARY MITCHELL Cedar Rapids Rose Mary Mitchell, 83, a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday Survivors include a son, Howard; and two daughters Sharon (David) Chihak and Debra; grandchildren, Matthew Chihak, Jeremy (Holly) Chihak and Adam and Anthony Zirkelbach; and a great-granddaughter, Charlotte Chihak, all of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin; two brothers, Wallace Jr. and David Post; and a son-in-law, David Chihak. Rose was born Dec. 1, 1932, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Wallace Sr. and Mary (Serovy) Post. She graduated from Wilson High School. Rose worked at Collins Radio for seven years and then at Square D for 29 years, retiring in 1992. Rose married Alvin Mitchell on May 17, 1959. He passed away in 2011. Rose was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She would do anything for her family and delighted in visits from her family. Rose was a special person – a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend – who would always listen. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her. A memorial fund has been established. The family would like to thank the ICU staff at Mercy Medical Center for the wonderful care given to Rose.
