Rose Marie Satariano, 90, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, at Manor Care in Cedar Rapids.
A funeral Mass officiated by the Rev. John R. Flaherty will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at 10 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church. Visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where a rosary will begin at 6 p.m. Burial at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Cedar Rapids will follow the funeral Mass.
Rose was born on Feb. 13, 1927, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Francis Pusateri. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Cedar Rapids in 1947, and helped in the family store, Pusateri Grocery. Rose married John August Satariano on Aug. 21, 1952, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. They were introduced by their best friends, who brought John to Cedar Rapids to work at Collins. Rose worked at Russell's Guide (a bindery company) for 26 years, retiring in 1989. They made brochures for companies around the world.
Rose and John played cards and enjoyed dancing while they lived in Pittsburgh after they were married. Rose was masterful in cooking, baking and gardening. She volunteered for over 20 years at Mercy Medical Center. Rose attributes her parents' deep faith as an inspiration to her staying strong in her Catholic faith. Her words of wisdom are, "Always be truthful in what you say, be honest, and always have love in your heart."
Survivors include her sons, Thomas (Kim) Satariano of Lees Summit, Mo., and Frank (Dorothy) Satariano and Tony (Jo) Satariano, both of Cedar Rapids; her brother, Joe Pusateri of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Nicholas (Stephanie) Satariano, Abbie (Josh) Barta, Christopher (Bryson) Satariano and Michael (Amanda) Boots; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; and her siblings, Marino, Mary, Santina, Frank Jr., Anthony and Prudence McEowen.
