Rose Marie Leonhardt, 92, of Amana, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, at Colonial Manor of Amana. Funeral service: 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, at Middle Amana Community Church, with Elder Kristie Yoder officiating. Burial will be in Middle Amana Cemetery. Visitation: Monday after 9 a.m. at Middle Amana Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to the charity of the donor's choice in Rose's name.
Rose is survived by her nephews, Mark (Tami) Leonhardt, Larry (Wilma) Rettig, Douglas (Janet) Leonhardt and David Leonhardt; nieces, Rosemary (David) Houser and Ellen Leonhardt; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harry and Elmer; a sister, Lina; and a niece, Bonnie Rettig Hertel.
Rose Leonhardt was born Sept. 22, 1924, in Middle Amana, the daughter of Ferdinand and Minnie Reihmann Leonhardt. She graduated from Middle Amana High School and later attended Cedar Rapids School of Business. She was employed as an executive secretary with Vigortone Products and Amana Refrigeration. She was a member of the Amana Arts Guild and Amana Heritage Society.
Rose enjoyed playing golf and doing word and picture puzzles, and was an avid canasta card game player.
She loved her family dearly, especially her nieces and nephews. Rose was a dear friend to many.
