Rose, John
John Rose, 63, of Anamosa, formerly of Springville, died peacefully Sunday morning, Dec. 5, 2010, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Springville United Methodist Church with interment in the Springville Cemetery. The Rev. John Keizer will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Friends of the Springville Fire Department or the Central Park Nature Center.

Surviving is his wife, Judy; two daughters, Barbara (James) Rose-Cooper of Anamosa, and Michele (Shawn) Rose-Stone of Springville; five grandchildren, Christopher, Laura and Michael Cooper and Seth and Mason Stone; a brother, Perry Rose of Hawthorne, Nev.; three sisters, Mary Mortensen of Phoenix, Ariz., Ann Rink of Owatonna, Minn., and Sara Merrill of Moravian Falls, N.C.; a brother-in-law, John Smith of Woodward, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Crooks of Boone; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
John Curtis Rose was born Feb. 6, 1947, at Hawthorne, Nev. He was the son of Claude and Mabel Leiss Rose. John started his education in Nevada, and received his GED from the Des Moines Community College. John married Judy Crooks on July 13, 1967, at Boone, Iowa. He was employed at Quinn Manufacturing in Boone, as a machinist. The couple move to Springville in 1976, and John worked as a machinist at Goss Press in Cedar Rapids, until 2001. He returned to school at Kirkwood where he received a degree as a diesel tech. The couple moved to Anamosa in 2005 and John was employed at Jones County Conservation at Central Park in the maintenance department the past six years.
John's life was centered on his children and grandchildren. Throughout his life he was involved in community service. He was a member of the Springville United Methodist Church. He served on the Springville Fire and Rescue Department for over 25 years. He also coached softball was active in the PTA and the Springville Lions Club. While as a teenager he served on the Civil Air Patrol in Henderson, Nev.
