Rose Dorothy Pudil, 83, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2022, at the Methwick Community after a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Thursday an hour before the service. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Rose was born Feb. 27, 1939, in Marion, Iowa, the daughter of Milo and Rose (Osvald) Sebetka. She was a graduate of St. Wenceslaus High School. While working at Peoples Bank, she met and fell in love with John Pudil. They were married June 8, 1964, at St. Pius X Church and were happily married for 49 years. Rose also work at Armstrongs and the Cedar Rapids School District where she was able to continue her love of children by teaching and mentoring as a teacher’s assistant at different locations around the city.
Rose was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, volunteering there in various capacities. Her faith was priority and she found spiritual support and purpose through her work and worship at both the church and grade school.
Rose’s family includes her son, Doug of Cedar Rapids; grandson, Paul of Chicago; sister, Margaret Langr of Topeka, Kans.; brother, Joe Sebetka (Ivette) of Rockledge, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
Rose’s family who have passed are her parents, Milo and Rose Sebetka; her beloved husband of 49 years, John Pudil; son, Paul Pudil; grandson, Ben Pudil; brothers, Vern Sebetka and John Sebetka; and sisters, Jane Saylor, Mary Jo Culp and Agnes Mullaley.
Rose was a member of the National Order of Foresters and the Legion of Mary.
Rose will be missed by many family and friends, especially the Game Night Girls and the many friends and staff from the Methwick Community.
