St. Lucas
Rose Blong, 97, of St. Lucas, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 307 E. Main St., St. Lucas, with Father Kyle Digmann presiding. Burial will be in St. Luke's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday morning at St. Luke's Catholic Church in St. Lucas.
Rose is survived by her two siblings, Viola Schmelzer, Appleton, Wis., and Irvin (Marie) Blong, Fort Atkinson; along with several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Clement and Elizabeth (Leibold) Blong; one sister, Florence (Dr. Daniel) Poirier; one brother, Clement Blong; and one brother-in-law, Joe Schmelzer.
Schluter–Balik Funeral Home in Decorah is handling arrangements.
