ROSALYN M. BERGMANN
Clarence
Rosalyn M. Bergmann, 98, of Clarence, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at the Clarence Nursing Home. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Rosalyn was born on April 20, 1923, to William and Leora (Hein) Meewes in Davenport, Iowa. She married Lavern Bergmann on May 3, 1941, in Memphis, Mo. He passed away on Oct. 3, 2010.
She is survived by her daughters, Diane (Carrol) Miller of Plano, Texas, and Julie (Wayne) Chapman of Springville, Iowa; sons, David of Marion and Brian (Becky) of Lisbon; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Ken (Betty) Meewes of Davenport; and sister, Eloise Bowers of Carmel, Ind.
Rosalyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother-in-law, Tom Bowers.
Rosalyn attended rural schools in Scott County and graduated from Clarence High School in 1940. She farmed with her husband for many years on a farm south of Clarence. Rosalyn was a member of the choir at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence for over 70 years, and actually started the choir when she was a senior in high school. She also was a past organist and soloist at St. John's along with the hand bell choir for 32 years, and also was a member of the lend-a-hand.
