Root-Sherman, Amber
Amber Root-Sherman, 54, of Des Moines, formerly of Cedar Rapids, was born July 25, 1958, and passed away suddenly Sept. 23, 2012, of a brain aneurysm after a long battle with multiple sclerosis.
Amber is survived by her husband, Keith Sherman; children, April (Bob), Matthew (Michelle), Erica and April (Robert); grandchildren, Elaine, Morgan, Elizabeth and Ryan; grandmother, Mable (Haines) Root; mother, Roberta (Hughes) McBurney; siblings, Elton, Rebecca, Martha, Grace and Trudy; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Root.
Amber touched so many people in different ways. She had a strong faith and cared deeply for others. She loved to tell stories of her life, and was never shy to tell you exactly how she felt. She loved to play with her grandkids, sit outside and watch birds, camp, read, and craft.
A gathering will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, at 1p.m., with service at 2 p.m. at St. Augustin's Church, 545 42nd St., Des Moines. A short reception will follow.
