Ronnie Eugene Gann, 64, of Walford, Iowa passed away on Saturday, October 26 surrounded by his loving family at UnityPoint Hospice in Cedar Rapids.
Graveside services will be held November 9, 2024 at the Concord Cemetery in Bates City, Missouri at 2 pm.
Celebration of Life will be held November 16, 2024 at the Walford Community Center in Walford, Iowa from 2:00-4:00 pm.
Ronnie was the son of Ronald & Trisha Gann of Odessa, MO and Karen Vaught of Broomsfield, CO. Ronnie graduated from Odessa High School in 1979. After graduation he joined the United States Navy in 1982. He married Janet (Hoy) Gann on May 22, 1982. They were fortunate to share 42 years together creating a wonderful family and home in Iowa. One of Ronnie’s greatest accomplishments was being the father to his 2 children, son Brandon, and daughter Jennifer. With over 28 years as an Air Traffic Controller, Ronnie retired from Eastern Iowa Airport, in 2011.
As an avid baseball fan, Ronnie helped to establish the baseball and softball diamonds for the City of Walford. He would go on to play a key role in the maintenance of those fields and volunteering for the Parks and Rec for over 25 years. Ronnie enjoyed spending time gardening, fishing, traveling, camping with family, and playing baseball with his son and grandsons. Ronnie found the most joy in being a grandpa and spending time with his 4 grandsons having cookouts on the 4th of July and backyard campfires.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Orville & Marie Gann and Opal Kirts; Sister Kendra Amos; Father-in-law Larry Hoy; Sister-in-law Anna Cline.
He issurvived by his wife of 42 years Janet; son Brandon (Tammy) Gann of Cedar Rapids, IA; daughter Jennifer (Jesse) Bergmeier of Walford, IA; grandsons Lucas and Wyatt Gann, Jack and Jenson Bergmeier; parents Ronald and Trisha Gann; Karen Vaught; Mother-in-law Leona Hoy; Sisters, Glenda (Dan) Weber; Melinda (Chris) Lowery and multiple nephews.
