Ronnfeldt, Mary
Mary Ronnfeldt, 78, of Cascade, formerly of Hartley, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade, after living many years with Alzheimer's disease. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 16, at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Hartley, with Father Tim Hogan officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Hartley. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 15, at the Hartley Funeral Home in Hartley concluding with rosary prayer service beginning at 7 p.m. Additionally, visitation is offered after 9 a.m. at the church Saturday.
Margaret Mary Ann (Knox) Ronnfeldt, daughter of Francis and Laura (Snell) Knox, was born May 9, 1934, in Winneshiek County, Iowa, at the family farm. After graduating from Canton Minnesota High School in 1952, Mary attended secretarial business school in Winona, Minn. On Dec. 29, 1955, Mary married Walter G. Ronnfeldt at St. Agnes Catholic Church near Burr Oak, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walt; parents; parents-in-law, Christopher and Nora Ronnfeldt; infant daughter, Ellen Marie; daughter-in-law, Gwen Ronnfeldt; brothers, Earl and Maurice Knox; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, June, Vernon and Alfred Ronnfeldt.
Left to cherish Mary's memory are her six children and their spouses, Phyllis Ronnfeldt of Cascade, Mike (Audrey) Ronnfeldt of Derby, Kan., Don (Jacque) Ronnfeldt of Iowa City, Tom (Jean) Ronnfeldt of Bloomington, Minn., Nancy (James) Litwin of Edina, Minn. and Joan (Pete) Seitz of Cascade; 15 grandchildren; one brother, Marvin (Bette) Knox of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Janice Knox of Canton, Minn., Helen (Zeno) Kappes of Burr Oak, Bill (Karen) Ronnfeldt of Omaha, Neb., Ellen Ronnfeldt of Waterville, Robert Ronnfeldt of McGregor and Janice (Jim) Pfiffner of Harpers Ferry; and other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Mary, to: Walter G. Ronnfeldt Scholarship Fund, c/o Tom Ronnfeldt, 10101 Nesbitt Ave. S, Bloomington, MN 55437.
Mary's family wishes to thank the staff at Shady Rest Care Center for providing Mary loving kindness and compassion during her time in their care.
