Ron's memorial will be Thursday, June 22, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, with visitation at 10 a.m., service at 11 a.m., and lunch following.
Ron is survived by his wife, Charlotte Johnson; children, Billie Barker, Becky Smith and Bart Johnson; nine grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Born and raised in Des Moines, Ron graduated from East High School. After serving in the Air Force during the Korean War, he met and married Charlotte, then moved to Denver, Colo., where they owned and operated Zip Food Stores. After returning to Iowa, he lived in Alburnett, Vinton, and Marion. In Iowa, Ron operated a small sheep farm, was a welder at Link-Belt Speeder, and worked as an independent insurance representative for Johnson & Johnson LLC. In retirement Ron and Charlotte traveled full-time throughout the U.S. for seven years. He was a member of Radiant Church, formerly First Assembly of God.
