Ronald Allen Wasson, 78, of Rogersville, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014, in his home.
He was born Nov. 25, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of the late Frank Wasson Jr. and Alice (Fuhrmeister) Wasson. Ron graduated from Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids. He was an employee of Cherry Burrell Corp. in Cedar Rapids for over 35 years and later was employed by APV Corp. for 10 years.
He also was a musician and from 1957 to 1965, was lead vocalist for a well-known rock band, The Untouchables. He later formed a country band, Springfield Country.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Virginia; two sons, Eric Hamad and wife Stacey, Kansas City, Mo., and David Hamad and wife Kim, Washington state; three daughters, Lori Sweeney and husband Kurt, Ada, Okla., Jill Nielson, Payson, Utah, and Robyn Hamad, Mission, Texas; a sister, Jan Harris and husband Darrell, Cedar Rapids; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; plus stepchildren; his loving dogs, Katie and Alex; and many other relatives and friends.
No services are planned. The body has been cremated under the care of J.D. Lee and Sons Funeral Home, Rogersville.
