Ronald Steffen, 63, died Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids following an extended illness.
A celebration of Life will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2024, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, with interment in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Dubuque, at a later date. Thoughts, memories and condolences may be left at www.goettschonline.com.
Surviving are his son Alex, and his mother Nancy Steffen. He was preceded by his father Kenneth and a brother Jeff.
Ronald Michael Steffen was born December 7, 1961, in Dubuque, Iowa. He was the son of Kenneth and Nancy Herting, Steffen. Ron graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1980. He continued his education at NEICC for welding. He later attended advanced welding classes in Casper, Wyoming where he worked for Caterpillar. On returning to Iowa he worked at Bradley Iron Works in Dubuque. Ron spent 30 years as a welder at Cuckler / Cornerstone retiring in April of 2025.
He loved anything outdoors, hunting, fishing bass tournaments with his friends Chad and Dan, and camping with his good friends Brian and Carolyn.
The family would like to thank Brian and Carolyn Rickels and the staff at Pinicon Place for all their help and care during Ron’s illness.
