Ronald “Ronnie” George Worrell, 95, of Solon, died on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the Solon Care Center. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Fr. Charles Fladung presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time, Tuesday, at the Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre are assisting the family at this time.
Ronnie was born on February 16, 1930, in Solon, Iowa, the son of George and Minnie (Petersen) Worrell. Ronnie graduated from Solon High School in 1948. On January 23, 1951, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Before shipping out, Ronnie married the love of his life, Donna Williams, on November 17, 1951, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Solon. Ronnie then proudly served his country in the Korean War. Upon return, he and Donna settled down and had 9 children together, and Ronnie went to work in the Sheet Metal Worker union, where he would work for 37 years. Outside of work, Ronnie was involved in many organizations including: The Solon American Legion Post #460, the Catholic Order of Foresters, Sheetmetal Retirees Local #263, and the Solon Fire Department. Ronnie was a very active man, in his free time he would often enjoy gardening, fishing, hunting, or even traveling the world with Donna, but there was nothing he loved more than spending time with his family and friends.
Ronald is survived by his nine children and their families, Lynn Worrell and Debra Rogers and his children Dacia (Brian), Jason (Barbara) and Shanna (Pat), Brad (Nancy) Worrell and children Alicia, Willy (Amanda) and Dulcinia, Terese (Robert) Lisenbee and children R.J. (Sarah) and Jennifer, Ren’ee (Doug) Ossman and their children Sonya (Dustin), Crystal (Chris), Brandon (Ashley) and Blake (Blessed), Kevin (Ren’e) Worrell and children Brooke (Terry), Eric (Christine), Megan (Eric), Desire (Eric), Devon, and Bryan, Lisa (Roger) Diltz and children Mandy, Sean (Amanda), Dillon and Brittney, Carla (Dan) Garrett and children Jada, Luke and Dusty, Dawn (Ryan) O’Leary and children Aidan, Haven, and Liam, Chad (Sandra) Worrell and children Amelia and A.J.; his great-grandchildren; siblings Arlene Jennings, Darlene Griffith, Jim (Bev) Worrell, RoseAnn (Terry) Michel, and Linda M. (Kevin) Manary; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 68 years, Donna Worrell; brothers Dick (Betty) Worrell and Gary Worrell; and son-in-law John O’Sullivan.
