Ronald ("Ron") Robert Hartman passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, IA. He was born May 11, 1945, in Iowa City, IA to Jacob and Mildred (Miller) Hartman.
Ron worked at Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids, IA for 31 years before retiring in 2002. He enjoyed hunting, restoring cars, bike riding, going to the shooting range, and spending time with his family. He loved hiking in nature and sharing his appreciation for nature with others. He was known for his wisdom and being able to fix anything.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Gist); daughters Deb Murphy (John) and Julie; son Jeff; granddaughter Gabrielle (Spenser); grandson Lucas Barillas (Alivia); 3 great-grandchildren; siblings Jerry, Donna Hines, Wanda Stotler, and Dan (Bud); and many nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; sister Joy Chubick; and brothers Larry and Dean. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Wednesday, January 29 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Family is invited to arrive at 3 pm. Funeral service will be at 2 pm on Thursday, January 30 at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.
