Ronald “Ron” D. Sherwood, 89, of Cedar Rapids, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023, at St Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids after a brief illness.
Ron was born on March 9, 1934, in Chicago, Ill., to Russell and Ethna (Marcel) Sherwood. He retired from Cherry Burrel. He served in the United States Army for four years in Korea. He was an avid bowler for 63 years from 1958-2021. He had a lifelong love of music and often made CDs for others. He collected the Top 100 for each year since the late 1940s.
Ron is survived by his six stepchildren, Gary Feickert, Brenda King, Sherri (Bill) Michalec, Alan Feickert, Pamela Freno and Roxanne Michalec; sister, Joan Sherwood Breeden; stepmother, Patricia Sherwood; and stepbrother, George (Christine) Goddard.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Randy Reickert; grandson, Richard “Richie” King; and brother-in-law, Thomas Breeden.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023, 5 to 7 p.m., at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Stateroom. Funeral service on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023, 11 a.m., at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Interment will follow at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
