Ronald R. Brooker, 69, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2018. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Dec. 2, 2018. Please contact family for details. Brosh Chapel and the Avacentre in Cedar Rapids is caring for Ron and his family.
Ron was born Dec. 14, 1948, in Des Moines, the son of Bruce and Hope Brooker. Ron was a 1970 graduate of the University of Iowa and was in the Writers' Workshop. He served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, then worked for the Iron Workers Local 89. He loved writing poetry, fishing, working in the garden and his grandchildren.
Ron is survived by his wife, Charlene; daughter, Sayde (Cristian) Alexandrescu, and son, Sam (Hollan Goetz) Brooker; grandchildren, Viana and Sabrina Alexandrescu and John and Judith Brooker; and brothers, Bruce Brooker, Kenneth Brooker and Charles Schaefer and their families.
