Ronald Allen Nezerka, 74, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital. A memorial gathering will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Private family inurnment: Czech National Cemetery.
Ronald was born May 20, 1940, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Adolf and Lottie B. (Dostal) Nezerka. He served in the U.S. Army following graduation from high school. Ron married Marilyn Womachka on Sept. 22, 1961, at Calvin Sinclair Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids. He worked as a Realtor with Skogman Realty for many years, as well as for Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric for over 22 years until retiring in 2005.
Ron was a member of American Legion Posts 5 and 298, 40/8 Voiture 1305, an AMVETS commander for Posts 50 and 6, Moose, Elks, special deputy for Linn County Sheriff's Office, scoutmaster of Troop 84 and Cedar Hills Community Church.
He enjoyed reading, hunting deer and turkey, and also the time spent with his many friends and family.
Ron is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his son, Ron Jr. (Nikki) Nezerka, and their children, Connor, Parker and Kameron; brothers, Adolph (Carlene) Nezerka of Ely, Lumir (Marlys) Nezerka of Savage, Minn., and Dean (Betty) Nezerka of Cedar Rapids; as well as his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents and his daughter, Rhonda Nezerka.
