Ronald Kenneth Nelson, 78, of Aloha, Ore., was born Sept. 17, 1937, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Kenneth and Ethel Nelson. Ron passed peacefully March 14, 2016, at Rosewood Specialty Care in Hillsboro, Ore., from complications of Parkinson's disease. Private services were held in Oregon.
Ron attended rural schools and graduated from Delhi High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a jet mechanic. He married Ervine Dickenson of Burns, Ore., in 1960. Ron was a longtime member and volunteer of the Hillsboro, Ore., Elks Lodge. He loved hunting, fishing, and camping with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Ervine; daughter, Rhonda (Roger) Hancock; son, Jeffrey (Jana) Nelson; brother-in- law, Randy Dickenson; sister, Janet Cords; brother, Douglas Nelson; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Vera Cole and Bertha Cornwell.
