Ronald Lee Gaule, 84, of North Liberty, Iowa, residing at Keystone on Forevergreen, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025 due to old age.
Visitation will be held from noon-2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at Lensing’s Oak Hill in Coralville. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Ridgewood Cemetery in North Liberty.
Ron was born on September 27, 1940 in Clearfield, Iowa to Melvin and Nina (Wycoff) Gaule. He graduated from Clearfield High School where he was a cheerleader and played the trombone.
Upon moving to North Liberty, Ron worked for Fuller Brush. He then owned and operated several successful businesses including Ron’s Concrete for over 25 years, transitioning to Ron’s Skid Loader Service. After retiring from the construction businesses, he worked at Quail Creek Golf Course mowing greens and maintaining equipment. He then had DW Construction with his good friend Glen Siders (they claim they didn’t know who was D or who was W.) His last business was Ron’s Sharpening Services, which is estimated to have sharpened over 5,000 chainsaw and mower blades.
Ron was married to Sharon (Coy) Sass but later divorced. He then married Nancy (Pearson) Green in 1991, who brought two daughters to the family.
Ron is survived by his four children, that he was proud to have raised in an era that most men were not granted custody of children: David Gaule of Iowa City, KaLynn (Jason) Kula of Central City, Kathy (Tom) Stratton and Karen Gaule of North Liberty; stepdaughter, Kathy Droll of Iowa City and son-in-law, Larry Skiye; grandchildren: Jamilynn Kennedy, Evan (Emily) Neise, Joshua (Alicia) Gaule, Shannon (Keith) Kerscheiter, Travis (Cailing) Gaule, Tommy (Carolyn) Riley, Amanda (Doug) Warnock, Justin (Terri) Kacena, Taylar Skiye and Logan Skiye; 18 great-grandchildren; and sisters: Janet Coulter, Twyla Kerr and Andrea (John) Rauer as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy Gaule; stepdaughter, Patty Skiye; brother, Raymond Gaule; sister-in-law, Ginger Gaule; brother-in-law, Allen Kerr; nephew, Dale Gaule and two infant sisters.
The family is very grateful for the staff at Keystone on Forevergreen for their amazing care and to Iowa City Hospice for their care and compassion in his final days.
