Ronald L. Pearson
Cedar Rapids
Ronald L. Pearson, 72, entered eternity on Oct. 16, 2022. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, at Radiant Church located at 3233 Blairs Ferry Rd. NE, Cedar Rapids.
Ron was born on July 28, 1950, in Chicago, Ill. He began his career as an RF engineer in 1969 at RCA in Chicago. He was a faithful and diligent worker. When he came to Iowa, he landed a position at Cox Cable/Primestar, where he was awarded for going above and beyond the call of duty. Ron also served in the U.S. Army from 1980-81, and then joined the Iowa National Guard, serving as a radio operator in the Signal Corps. Ron married Carla on Sept. 22, 1990.
He is survived by his wife, Carla Pearson; siblings, Sharon Pearson, Stevie (Teresa) Pearson and Cynthia Pearson; his children, Ronald D. Pearson Jr, Crystal Pearson, Scott Garrels and Jay Garrels (Andrea); grandchildren, Chelsey, Ariana, Justice, DeLaney, Dariyelle, Christian and Kobey; and great-grandchildren, Malykai, Lilly, Amya and Lorelai.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lenora and Ronald; his sister Mimi; and his brother, Ritchie.
Ron was a master storyteller, regaling his enthralled listeners, sometimes for hours. He loved to make people laugh, and when he laughed you could hear him from miles away. He was a fisherman (where his storytelling skills came in handy) and taught his children and grandchildren to fish, which they thoroughly enjoyed. They often remarked that he was the best grandpa in the world. He will be remembered for his positive personality and his ability to inspire others to be their best. He will be greatly missed.
