Ronald D. "Jake" Jacobsen, 76, passed from this life Saturday, May 2, 2015, at Mercy Hospice House in Johnston.
Ron was born Aug. 17, 1938, in Grinnell, Iowa, to Robert and Amanda Jacobsen. He was a 1956 graduate of Tama High School. He married Lois Graff on March 8, 1962. Ron lived in Sheldahl for more than 40 years and retired from John Deere. He held various positions with UAW Local 450, including most recently serving as the retirees chairman.
Ron is survived by his daughter, LeAnne Taylor of Richardson, Texas; grandson, Griffin Taylor of Richardson; one brother, Richard (Mignonne) Jacobsen of Green Valley, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Dorothy Graff of Tama; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois; and one brother, Robert Jacobsen Jr.
A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 11, at Iles Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Chapel in Madrid, Iowa. A funeral liturgy will take place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama, with an additional visitation one hour before the liturgy. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Tama.
The family extends a special thanks to all of his loyal friends at UAW Local 450, in Sheldahl and the surrounding communities.
