Ronald Henry, 76, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, at All Saints Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Reverend John R. Flaherty. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, with a vigil at 5:30 p.m. Visitation also one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Survivors include his children, Mike (Kathy) Henry, Jason Henry, Deb Seefeld and John Williams; brother, Steve Henry; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Ron was born Oct. 19, 1938, in Cresco, Iowa, the son of Thomas and Mescal (Swacker) Henry. He grew up and attended school in Decorah, Iowa. He moved to Cedar Rapids and, while working at Turner Microphone Company, Ron met Annette Kopecky, which turned a friend into 40 years of marriage. They were married on July 22, 1972.
He also worked at Norand and eventually retired from Cryovac. Ron was a great outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, camping, skiing and gardening. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League for 40 years.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Annette; and brothers, Dave, Robert, Greg and Marv.
A memorial fund has been established.
