Ronald S. "Pat" Harding, 91, of Coralville, died Sunday, May 11, 2014, at Mercy Hospital under the compassionate care of all in the hospice unit.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 15, at First Christian Church, Coralville, where visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial at the Lone Tree Cemetery will follow a reception that will be held at the church following the funeral services.

Pat was born March 17, 1923, in Lake Williams, N.D., the son of Robert and Gladys (Immel) Harding. He served in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant under General Patton in Germany and Europe during World War II. Pat married Alberta Lou Vining on March 8, 1947, in Altoona, Iowa. For many years Pat worked as a commercial and residential contractor and contributed to the development of Iowa City and the surrounding areas,
He was a member of First Christian Church, the
Iowa City Homebuilders Association and was a 32nd degree Mason. Pat enjoyed playing cards, watching sports and anything to do with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He simply loved being "Dad and Grandpa."
His family includes his wife of over 67 years, Alberta; their children, Ron (Mary) Harding Jr. of Chandler, Ariz., Robert Harding of Coralville, Richard Harding of Waimea, Kauai, Suzanne (John) Galea of Terre Haute, Ind., and Cathleen (Art) Chapman of Lone Tree, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers; and two sisters.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister.
