Ronald Davis, 72, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, May 4, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. A Celebration of Life memorial gathering will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Trudie; sons, Dan Davis (William Lambert) of Littleton, Colo., and Dean (Tanya) Davis of Hanover, Md.; stepdaughter, Brooke Wright of Shellsburg; grandson, Ryan Owens of Center Point; four sisters, JoAnn (Jim) Nutting of West Union, Linda (Curt) Gjere of Decorah, Pam (Dave) Buhr of Mexico, Mo., and Vicki (Terry) Seedorff of Arlington; sister-in-law, Helen Davis of Cedar Rapids; and in-laws, John and Cindy Yates of Cedar Rapids and Mike and Dorothy Downs of Manchester.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Della Davis; brother, James Davis; and stepson-in-law, Corey Wright.
Ron was born Dec. 23, 1941, the son of James and Grace (Cline) Davis, in West Union, Iowa. A graduate from Wadena Public Schools, he served three years with the Iowa National Guard. On May 16, 1997,
Ron married Trudie Bishop in West Union. For 35 years, he worked at Longview Fiber, retiring in 2005. After his retirement, Ron had a small engine repair business.
Ron enjoyed league bowling and pitched softball. He loved the family deer hunting and fishing trips and also enjoyed spending time at Sammy's on Center Point Road.
