Ronald Dale Burns, 86 of Cedar Rapids, died on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Belle Plaine Specialty Care following a long illness. Celebration of Life: 6 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2025 at Teahen Funeral Home. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 6 p.m. before the service.
Ronald is survived by his son, Ray Burns of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Tammy Horak of Walford; grandchildren, Kasi Hayes and Alison Horak; great-grandchildren, Lennox and Kohen Becker; brother, Allan Burns and sister, Darlene Faught.
Ronald was preceded in death by his wife, Alviena in 2011; his parents, son Ronald (Billy) Burns; granddaughter, Daphne; and sister, Marlys Nelson.
Ronald was born on January 29, 1939, in Mason
City, the son of Merle and Doris Smith Burns. He
graduated from Mason City High School in 1957 and received an associate degree from Mason City Junior College. Ronald married Alviena Martin on July 29, 1962, in Mason City. He served in the United States Air Force for 8 years. Ronald was a laboratory technician at Amana Refrigeration for 25 years.
Ronald was an avid coin collector and had a knack for fixing things. Whether it was working on construction projects or repairing cars, he was always hands-on. Ronald also loved traveling and loved to visit and explore historical sites.
