Ron Thomas, 66, passed peacefully Friday, July 3, 2015. A memorial service to celebrate Ron's life will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Coralville. Ron requested that his friends dress casual.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice or the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarrior project.org).
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years, Diane (Yordi): his son, Ty (Linnea); his grandsons, Jordan, Christian and Josh, who pampered Ron with abundant love and happiness; two siblings, Ann (Mike) Barnes and Allen (Sandy) Thomas; and nieces and nephews.
Ron enjoyed stock car racing, boating, and camping with friends in their motor home.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lucille (Villhauer) Thomas; and his beloved pets, Milk Dud, Cody and Birky.
