Ron Perske, 70, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away at the Belle Plaine Specialty Care on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, with his wife by his side.
A visitation will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023, from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. with the Certified Celebrant officiating. A livestream of the service will be available on the Cedar Memorial website under Ron’s obituary under the video tab, starting on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023, starting at 11 a.m.
Ron was born on Aug. 15, 1953, in Battle Creek, MIch. He was the son of the late Roland Harding and Donna (Davy) Perske. On Oct. 12, 1993, Ron married the love of his life, Diane K. Fredericks. Ron was a Veteran in the U.S. Army where he showed his consistent professionalism, efficiency, and his love of his country. Ron had the privilege of meeting long-lost relatives in Germany while he was in the service. Ron was always looking to help out as many people as he could, because he never met a stranger. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend to many people.
Those left to cherish Ron’s memory are his wife, Diane Perske of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his children, Nathaniel Fredericks of Hilo, Hawaii, Jacob (Nikki Shafto) Fredericks of Toms River, N.J., and Sara (Justen Shaver) Perske of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his grandchildren, Destiny, Cheyenne, Nate, Skylar, and Aurora; his siblings, Steve Perske of Frostburg, Md., Tim Perske, Brenda Perske, and Melanie Bigelow, all of Battle Creek, Mich.; his mother-in-law, Tedi Fredericks of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Linda Haster, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his adopted daughter, Alethea Steitz, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his beloved service dog Tika and his five cats; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant siblings, his father-in-law, and his niece.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the National League of Families of American Prisoners and Missing in Action.
The family would like to thank the VA Hospital in Iowa City, the Care Initiatives team, the Care Initiatives Hospice Team, and Tim Chavers, for their love, care, and time they showed Ron while he was in their care.
