Ron LeClere, 72, of Hopkinton, died Monday, May 23, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 27, at the Hopkinton Community Church. Pastor Jan Lamont will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello. Thoughts, memories and condolences may be left at www.goettschonline.com.
Surviving are his wife, Deb; five children, Pat LeClere, Denise (Chris Cavanaugh) LeClere and Brian (Noel) LeClere, all of Hopkinton, Troy LeClere of Edgewood and Ivy (Jeremy Hofland) LeClere of Winthrop; eight grandchildren, Dakota Colehour, Eli, Carter and Jasmyn LeClere, Madison Bolsinger, Breyden LeClere, James Hofland and Nikoli Helgens; two sisters, Berenice Friest and Eula Svehla; and in-laws, Diana (Charles) Johnson, Linda Cline, Jim (Claire Hanson) Cline, Nancy Williams and Trudy Michels.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Annie LeClere; mother and father-in-law, Richard and Mabel Cline; and other in-laws, Ron Friest, Don Svehla, Kenny Williams, Wayne Atchison, and Michael and Pete Cline.
Ronald LeClere was born April 4, 1944, at Hopkinton, Iowa. He was the son of Otto and Bessie Glanz LeClere. Ron graduated from the Maquoketa Valley Community Schools in 1962. Ron served in the U.S. Air Force from 1967 until 1969, where he was a missile specialist. Ron married Deb Cline on June 11, 1977, at Delhi, Iowa. Ron farmed for 30 years near Hopkinton. He was also employed at Bacon Salvage, was a garbage truck driver for Curt Bacon and Roling Sanitation, and worked at the Hopkinton Creamery and Georgia Pacific in Monticello. Ron owned many classic convertible cars over the years and went cruising in them any time he could, even in the winter – top down, windows up, heat on.
