Romine, Jerry
Following a heroic battle with lung cancer, Jerry Romine, 51, of Mount Pleasant, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2011, at his home with his wife, Chris by his side. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, Mount Pleasant. There will be no formal services. Mr. Romine's body will be cremated per his wishes.
Memorials have been established to the Henry County Health Center for the Infusion Therapy Department and for an education fund for his children.

Born July 7, 1959, in Monmouth, Ill., Jerry was the son of James and Mildred (Yeager) Romine. He spent his formative years in Monmouth where he received his education. He married Joyce Meyer in Monmouth in 1983. The couple later divorced. In 2003, he married Chris Nau in Burlington.
For many years, Jerry provided cleaning, maintenance skills and custodial services to the 1st Federal Savings Bank, the schools in the Henry County area and many businesses. For the past four years, he was employed as a maintenance technician for Greenway Apartments in Burlington.
Jerry was a skilled carpenter and woodworker. He excelled in building and remodeling and could fix anything. He played the guitar and mandolin and sang country western music his entire life. He performed with his family and friends in Illinois and Iowa. He loved to go fishing and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.
His greatest enjoyments were his children. His dream was that each of them would have a happy and successful life. He will be profoundly missed by his family and friends.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Christy Nau of Mount Pleasant; two daughters, Julie Romine of Cedar Rapids, and Melissa Romine of Mount Pleasant; one son, Joshua Romine of Mount Pleasant; two brothers, Jim Romine of Davenport, and Ronnie Romine of Maywood, Mo.; and four sisters, Cheryl (Lee) Lucas of Monmouth, Ill., Carol Stein of Kirkwood, Ill., Connie (John) Christofferson of West Burlington, and Nancy Wickes of Moberly, Mo..
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Pam Lehmann.
