Roman, Mark Anthony
Mark Anthony Roman, 51, of St. Charles, Mo., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died July 11, 2012, at his home. Visitation and funeral services were held July 14 at Baue Funeral and Memorial Center in St. Charles by the Rev. B.T. Clemons. His remains were cremated and will be interred at a later time. The visitation was attended by many of Mark's family members, friends, colleagues, and students. Many fond memories were shared in regards to the funny, intelligent, and caring man who loved classic cars, music, his pets, and teaching.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra (Snead) Roman; his father, Anthony G. Roman of Cedar Rapids; his brother, Tim Roman and wife Jessica Roman of North Liberty; his half sister, Patty Eckman and husband Chuck Eckman of Nampa, Idaho; nieces, Lauren Roman and Alicia Eckman; nephew, Nick Eckman; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Beverly; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mark was born to Anthony and Beverly Roman on Oct. 23, 1960, in Cedar Rapids. He attended Toddville Elementary School and graduated from Cedar Rapids Regis High School in 1979. Following high school, Mark attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, and then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and a master's degree in accountancy from Truman State University (Northeast Missouri State University).
He married his college sweetheart, Sandra Snead, on Nov. 10, 1984. Mark was an associate professor of Accounting and Management at the John E. Simon School of Business at Maryville University in St. Louis, Mo., where he was also involved with numerous projects and committees. He was held in the highest regards by both students and colleagues.
Mark was a much loved son, brother, husband, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend, and will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
