Rolen N. Weeks, 55, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away at Mercy Medical Center on Dec. 9, 2016, following a short and hard battle with cancer. Services:
2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the funeral home. Entombment: Linwood Mausoleum, Cedar Rapids.
Rolen is survived by his wife, Denise Weeks; mother, Mary Beth Engel of Serena, Ill.; daughters, Danielle Weeks (Michael Horner) of Davenport, Iowa, and Kimberly Weeks of Cedar Rapids; grandson, Ayden Weeks of Cedar Rapids; sister, Vicky Engel (Jeff Grady) of Serena, Ill.; uncle, Clyde (Benita) Weeks of Newark, Ill.; nieces and nephews, Lacy Angel (Michael Warren), Chadd (Mel) Engel, Holly (Jeff) Crabbe and Brock and Brett Smith; and many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Weeks; maternal grandparents, the Searles; paternal grandparents, the Weeks; aunt, Barb Gray; and parents-in-law, the Nicolinis.
Rolen was born Aug. 7, 1961, in Aurora, Ill., the son of Wayne and Mary (Searle) Weeks. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. Rolen worked on the first Blackbird/Stealth Bomber and, after he retired from the Air Force, he worked at Rockwell for 17 years. Rolen married Denise Ann Nicolini in Bellevue, Neb., on March 19, 1983. Rolen was a member of Serena United Methodist Church. He enjoyed bowling, traveling and cruising. Rolen was an avid Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks, and Bulls fan. He had a love for his Harley-Davidson and Corvette, but, most of all, he loved his family and playing with his grandson.
Memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
