Roland N. Fox, 87, of Lowden, died Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island, Ill. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 15, at Zion United Church of Christ, Lowden, with the Rev. Stephen Stepp officiating. Burial: Lowden Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Chapman Funeral Home, Wheatland.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene; son, Terry (Lisa) of Davenport; daughters, Julie (Barry) Hoffmeier and Dianne (Beryl) Esbaum of Lowden; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.
Roland was born Dec. 1, 1927 in Wheatland, Iowa, to Henry and Lillie Laschansky Fox. He married Marlene Koch on May 9, 1953, in Wheatland. Roland was a member of the Lowden Lions Club, and was well known for his corn shelling and playing with the Cedar Ramblers band for years all over, including nursing homes. He liked to go "see the leaves," play cards, go to dances and enjoyed his pond. He also enjoyed watching his grandkids.
