Rohde, The Rev. John M.
The Rev. John M. Rohde, 84, of Manchester, died Saturday, March 26, 2011, at home. Services are at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Peace Lutheran Church, Ryan, by the Rev. David Anderson, Lakeville, Minn. Burial: Portable Cemetery, rural Manchester. Friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Leonard- Muller Funeral Home and one hour before services Thursday at the church.
John is survived by his wife, Joyce (Hamblin); five daughters, Rachel (Chris) Gilchrist of Woodbury, Minn., Rebecca (David) Hannah of Hampton, Rosemary (Jan) Rohde Ziskovsky of Cedar Rapids, Ruth (Norman) Anderson of Dothan, Ala., and Eliza (Doug) Boots of Waverly; a daughter-in-law, Beverley Rohde of Kildeer, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
John is preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Jonathan.
John “Jack” was born July 11, 1926, of Greene, the son of Ernest and Lucille (Kirsher) Rohde. He married Joyce Hamblin on June 12, 1953, at Manchester. He was ordained a Lutheran minister in 1953. John served as pastor at St. John Lutheran, Ramona, S.D.; St. John Lutheran, Merrill; St. John's Lutheran, Dubuque; Trinity Lutheran, New Hampton; St. Paul Lutheran, Hampton; and Peace Lutheran, Ryan, all of Iowa.
