Roggentien, Dean
Dean Roggentien, 82, of Marengo, died at Marengo Memorial Hospital on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Katie Dawson officiating. Burial: Marengo Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Kloster Funeral Home.
A memorial fund has been established.
Dean is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beverly; a son, Nick (Mary) Roggentien of Marengo; a daughter, Dru (Don) Hummer of Amana; seven grandchildren, Kelli Roggentien of Marengo, Reece Roggentien of Tiffin, Samantha (Kyle) Gorsh of Oxford, Chris (Amy) Hummer of Cedar Rapids, Emily (Nick) Millhollin of North Liberty, Bethany (Conrad) Schmidt of Des Moines, and Andrew (Lynston) Hummer of Cedar Rapids; and seven great-grandchildren.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bob Roggentien.
Dean Roggentien was born June 11, 1927 in Ladora, the son of Ernest J. and Alice Elick Roggentien. He attended the Victor and Marengo schools and married Beverly Hahn on June 8, 1949, in Marengo. He was a WWII navy veteran stationed at Pearl Harbor. He worked with his father and brother as the owner-operator of E. Roggentien and Sons. He was a member of the Marengo American Legion Post #76.
