Rogers, Joan Velma

Joan Velma Rogers, 64, of Iowa City, died Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, at Lantern Park Care Center of cancer. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City. Burial will be at a later date. The family will greet friends from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.

Joan was born July 24, 1946, in Iowa City, the daughter of Elmer and Velma Frantz Rogers. She was a 1964 graduate of Regina High School and Irish Business College. Joan was employed at the University of Iowa in the Department of Psychology.

Joan enjoyed Iowa football and spending time with her family, especially her great-nieces and nephews.

The family extends their appreciation to Diane, Rose, Dela, Ken, Marlene, JoAnn, Iowa City Hospice and all her friends for their support and care.

Joan is survived by two brothers, Maynard (Colleen) Rogers of Coralville, and Larry (Mary Ellen) Rogers of Iowa City; sister-in-law, Esther Rogers of Riverside; six nieces and nephews, Jason (Jessica) Rogers, Angie (Jeff) Albright, Gary (Diane) Rogers, Diane (John) Madsen, Mike (Chris) Rogers and Deb (Randy) Wagamon; 14 great-nieces and nephews; and numerous extended family.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Kenneth.
