Roger Lee Weiss, 56, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa. He was born on July 17, 1962, in Eau Claire, Wis., the son of Wilbert (Bill) and Margaret (Schneider) Weiss. He attended school in Durand, Wis., and graduated in 1980. In 1986, Roger married Debra Anibas. Together they had two children, Tiana and Zachary, but later divorced. During that time, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie, Wis., earning his bachelor's degree. After graduation, he became employed at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he worked for 30 years. In 1996, Roger met and married his best friend and love of his life, Jodi Ehlers. Roger and Jodi were blessed with a son, Jordan. He continued his education through the University of Iowa's Executive MBA program and graduated in 2005. He also served as a board member for The ARC of East Central Iowa.
Their cabin on the Mississippi River in Guttenberg provided a welcome family retreat and was his "happy place." His interests and adventures were numerous: hunting, fishing, boating, flying, skiing, snowmobiling, biking, golfing, playing cards, Packers games, trips to the Caribbean and Mexico (especially Los Cabos), just to mention a few.
He is survived by his wife, Jodi; daughter, Tiana (Tyler) Imhoff; sons, Zachary and Jordan; grandchildren, Tenley and Treyton; father, Bill Weiss (Zita Stewart); brother, Rod Weiss (Pam); sister, Sue (Jerry) Bauer; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marge Weiss.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at Lowe Park, 4500 N. 10th St., Marion, Iowa. Arrangements were made by Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, 1844 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the funeral home and the family will forward to the University of Iowa's Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center to aid in renal cell carcinoma research.
