Roger A. "Rocky" Roggentine, 65 of Amana, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 25, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with the Rev. Don Dovre officiating. Burial will be in First Lutheran Cemetery, rural Conroy. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 24, at the funeral home. Memorials may be contributed to the family in Roger's memory.
He is survived by his children, Bobbie (Nathan) Martin of Waterloo and Lucas (Ashley) Roggentine of Boone; and three grandchildren, Maxwell Kenneth and Alexander James Martin, and Raegan Allyn Roggentine. Also surviving are four sisters, Penny Stephan of Marengo, Donna Murley (Lon) of South Amana, Cindy Murley (Collin) of rural Marengo and Kelcy Jasper (Laverne) of rural Marengo, along with several nieces and nephews and numerous friends and loved ones.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dixie Kenyon; and a brother, Russell Roggentine.
Roger Alan Roggentine was born Jan. 10, 1953, in Belle Plaine, Iowa, the son of Donald L. Roggentine and Alice I. Misel Roggentine. He spent his early years in rural Marengo, graduating from Amana High School in 1971. Roger drove a school bus after graduation, then went on to work with various businesses in and near the Amanas. He was employed at Kinze Manufacturing for 35 years and retired from there.
Rocky was a proud member of the Homestead Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed deer hunting, and working on Minneapolis Moline tractors. He loved driving around the Amanas checking up on everybody. But the grandchildren were the ones to bring a big smile to his face. He loved spending time with them, as well as his children, friends and other family members.
