Roger Reyhons, 85, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, at Northbrook Manor Care, surrounded by family. Visitation: 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon. Funeral Service: 11 a.m. at the funeral home by Chaplain Deb Black. Burial: Mount Vernon Cemetery following the service.
Roger was born Feb. 26, 1938, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, son of Emil and Francis (Kolek) Reyhons. He was united in marriage to Lou Ann Carstensen on Aug. 9, 1958.
Roger started he career working for his dad as a fuel deliver man for Standard Oil. He became a fireman from 1959-1991 and eventually became fire chief. He was also a billing clerk for Iowa Electric from 1966-2000. Roger was a member of the Southeast Linn Community Center in Lisbon as well.
He enjoyed watching the New York Yankees, Chicago Bears, and NASCAR; especially Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt.
Roger is survived by his sons, Steve (Debra) Reyhons of Monticello, Marc Reyhons of Tiffin, Scott (Julie) Reyhons of Clinton, and Jon (Jackie) Reyhons of Solon; grandchildren, Amber, Brandon, Matt, Shelbie, Savannah, Taylor, Travis, Allison, Austin, and Lake; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Norma Abbott and Marsha (Bob) Lehr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lou Ann Reyhons; and brother-in-law, Tom Abbott.
Memorial may be made to the Mount Vernon Fire Fighters Association.
