Roger Folkmann, 72, of Iowa City, passed away on Aug. 3, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospital.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at Lensing's Oak Hill Funeral Home, 210 Holiday Rd., Coralville. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City. Interment will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near Williamsburg.
Roger was born on Aug. 4, 1948, in Williamsburg, Iowa, to Raymond and Elfrieda (Ficken) Folkmann. After graduating from Williamsburg High School, Roger started working at Chub's Gas Station as a mechanic. In 1966 he married Becky Tippie and to this union, two children were born, Rodney and Chelle. The couple later divorced. Roger married Sondra Sprouse in 1986 and remained married until her passing in 2011. In 2015, he married Kathy Huedepohl, who survives him.
Throughout his life, Roger had several careers. He owned and operated R & R Cycle for several years and was a gas and petroleum delivery driver, employed locally in Williamsburg area for many years.
Roger enjoyed being a volunteer firefighter for Williamsburg, visiting and helping his family and friends and singing along with the radio. In his spare time, he also enjoyed repairing and restoring cars, camping and traveling.
Roger is survived by his wife, Kathy; children, Rodney (Linda) Folkmann and Chelle (Jason) Knox; stepchildren, Andrew (Kit) Huedepohl and Kate (John) Tryon; siblings, Sue (Ron) Roberts, Keith (Carol) Folkmann and Randy (Christine) Folkmann; as well as nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his second wife, Sondra.
