Roger David Grafft, 56, of Middletown, Ohio, passed away on June 3, 2023, after a courageous two-year battle with brain cancer. A Celebration of Life Open House will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at the American Legion Hall in Olin, Iowa, with a prayer and sharing time at 2 p.m. Roger was born on Oct. 18, 1966, in Anamosa, Iowa, to Richard and Doris (Babcook) Grafft. Roger was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Olin, Iowa. He grew up on the farm near Olin, attending and graduating from Olin High School in 1985.
Roger was a good athlete in high school, winning the 400-meter low hurdles at the state track meet in 1985. After high school he attended Central College in Pella, Iowa. Over his life he worked several jobs, including cattle ranches, cross country trucking, and Snap-on Tool delivery. Roger was very personable, having many friends all over the country.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rochelle Grafft; children, Emma, Nash and Alayna Grafft; stepchildren, Brianna (Jon) Schiltz, Brock Babcock, (EmmaLee Nelson), Brogan Babcock (Briana Rose) and Susie (Bob) Stumme; stepgrandchildren, Connor Stumme, Paige Stumme and Tallulah Schiltz; mother and stepfather, Doris and Bill Williams; siblings, Rosalie (Robert) Ahrendsen, Ross (Ann) Grafft, Rhonda (Randy) Stolte and Rochele (Bill Randall) Wink; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Roger was preceded in death by his father, Richard Grafft.
