Roemer Sr., Theodore Joseph
Theodore Joseph Roemer Sr., 102, of Madison Lake, Minn., died Monday, April 1, 2013, at Willow Gardens Nursing Home, Marion. Funeral services were held at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake. Burial was in Calvary All Saints Cemetery, Madison Lake. Mankato Mortuary, Mankato, Minn., assisted the family with arrangements.
Ted was born Aug. 7, 1910, in Mankato, Minn. He became postmaster of Madison Lake and remained there for 32 years until 1965. Ted was an author whose work included over 600 short stories and novelettes published in pulp fiction magazines and high school literature books during the 1930s and '40s. Ted most enjoyed telling a good story, either in person or on paper, and the friendships he made by sharing those stories. He was a visionary who cared about his community and his family.
Survivors include his three children, Elizabeth J. “B.J.” White of Marion, Theodore “Ted” Roemer Jr. of Madison Lake and Robert John “Bob” Roemer and his wife, Lois, of Mankato; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
